Casting Announced for New “Courier”
Production company Kinoteka has unveiled the cast for its upcoming reimagining of Karen Shakhnazarov’s 1986 classic, “Courier.”
The ensemble features Denis Kosikov (“Radar”), Alexandra Tikhonova, Filipp Yankovsky, Anna Mikhalkova, Rostislav Bershauer, Vladislav Vorobey, and Anastasia Nemolyaeva, who notably returns from the original film.
The original “Courier,” based on Shakhnazarov’s own novella, followed Ivan, a 17-year-old nihilistic messenger rebelling against societal norms. During his delivery rounds, he encounters Katya, a young woman from an affluent background, sparking a poignant journey of self-discovery and coming-of-age amidst an era of uncertainty.
The new adaptation will be helmed by director Ilya Ermolov (“Surgeon”), with a screenplay penned by Mikhail Zubko (“Happy End”). Produced by Georgy Malkov (“To the Village to Grandfather”), production is slated to begin this summer, with a theatrical release anticipated in the first half of 2027.
