Capcom Reveals More Details on Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom has released a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, detailing the upcoming action title’s storyline and primary characters.

The game is set amid a war between the Oni race and Genma demons. When monsters breach the human realm through a mysterious portal and threaten humanity’s survival, the Oni select a warrior and bestow the powerful Oni Gauntlet upon him to stop the invasion.

The footage demonstrates that the artifact will upgrade throughout the campaign. Defeated enemies leave behind souls, which players can collect to unlock new abilities and face tougher adversaries.

Capcom also highlighted fast-paced sword combat and specialized Oni powers. While the title retains the linear progression seen in earlier franchise installments, it features larger environments and greater freedom for exploration.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to release on September 4, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
