Assassin’s Creed Shadows is arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2. Digital Foundry has examined how the Switch 2 build stacks up against the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Switch 2 is scheduled to launch on December 2, 2025. The outlet describes the port as ambitious but notes several technical trade-offs. The most significant difference from higher-end consoles is the absence of ray tracing — scenes can appear a bit flatter and lighting less lifelike. To boost performance and steadiness, the developers replaced dynamic lighting with pre-baked lighting solutions.
Experts also observed the removal of motion blur on certain objects, weaker shadows and fog effects, and a drop in image fidelity likely caused by video compression. Even so, Digital Foundry concludes that the Switch 2 will receive a visually respectable rendition.
