Analysts at Box Office Theory are forecasting that the upcoming superhero installment, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” is poised to secure the most successful domestic opening of the year.
Projections suggest the film could rake in $228 million during its opening weekend, with a potential total domestic gross reaching $570 million, excluding international markets. Currently, the top domestic debut of 2026 is held by “Toy Story 5,” which earned $160 million.
For comparison, the previous entry, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” premiered in December 2021. It pulled in an impressive $260 million during its opening weekend in the U.S., eventually amassing a global box office total of $1.9 billion.
“Brand New Day” follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he navigates a challenging chapter in his life, forced to keep his web-slinging alter ego a secret, a decision that leads to perilous repercussions. The film features an ensemble cast including Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo. The project is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).
“Spider-Man” is set to hit theaters in the United States on July 31.
