Blue Beetle Will Return in the Superman Sequel
Xolo Maridueña is set to reprise his role as Blue Beetle, according to recent reports. The iconic comic book character is slated to appear in Superman: Man of Tomorrow, the highly anticipated sequel to James Gunn’s Superman.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, and Adria Arjona as Maxima. Principal photography for the sequel commenced in April under the direction of James Gunn, with a theatrical release scheduled for July 2027.
Blue Beetle previously headlined his own solo feature in 2023. The origin story of Jaime Reyes, who gains extraordinary powers through an ancient alien scarab, earned $130 million at the global box office and garnered favorable reviews, currently holding a 78% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
