Sony officially pulled back the curtain at Cinemacon 2026, revealing plans for a gritty, R-rated animated adaptation of the beloved action-horror title, Bloodborne. The announcement, aimed at generating buzz among theatrical exhibitors, confirms that PlayStation Productions is spearheading the project.

The studio behind the adaptation, Lyrical Productions, is currently carving out a niche in game-to-film projects. While their portfolio of released animated features is still in its infancy, they are simultaneously developing an adaptation of the novel Hell Followed with Us and the highly anticipated Death Stranding animated film, currently titled Mosquito. While specific footage or concept art for Bloodborne remains under wraps, the aesthetic direction of the Death Stranding teaser suggests a mature, high-fidelity visual approach.

The project is set to be executive produced by content creator and performer Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin. Expressing his enthusiasm on social media, McLoughlin shared, “I am producing this project and I am thrilled to finally bring this into the light. I am committed to delivering the most faithful and visceral Bloodborne experience possible. As a lifelong fan of the game, I understand the intensity and devotion of this community, and I want to do it justice.”

At this stage, Sony has yet to announce a formal release date, director, or official cast list. For those looking to revisit the source material, you can check out our original 9.75 out of 10 review of Bloodborne to see why it remains a haunting masterpiece of the genre.
