Blood of the Bastion Announced as New Warhammer The Old World Book on Grand Cathay

Evan Dicken’s novel Blood of the Bastion will soon be available for pre-order. The story centers on the adventures of Zhao Kai, Master of the Snake Gate, as he tries to uncover a Chaos plot and protect Grand Cathay from deadly dangers.

Black Library has announced the novel Blood of the Bastion by author Evan Dicken. This book offers another way to explore the Empire of the Celestial Dragon.

Veteran soldier Zhao Kai finally fulfills his dream by earning the post of Master of the Snake Gate, part of the Great Bastion that defends the northern borders from the Chaos Wastes. Soon, however, he uncovers a plot to destroy the Bastion, with the threat coming from within rather than outside.

This novel is full of intrigue and secrets that Zhao Kai must unravel to protect his kingdom, and to do so, he may have to sacrifice everything he has achieved.

According to Evan, this book is about family, friendship, and the friction between personal desires and societal expectations. The characters will have to push through the loss of power and noble privileges against the backdrop of an existential threat to Grand Cathay.
