LISA Yeyoung Choi
Artists including BLACKPINK members LISA and JISOO, Miley Cyrus, and Beyoncé released new music as Labor Day weekend arrived to start September.
BLACKPINK members LISA and JISOO both dropped solo songs this week. LISA released “SaWaDiKa” on Thursday, September 3, marking the first track from her upcoming EP, Press Play. JISOO premiered “Click” on Friday, September 4. Both releases follow a BLACKPINK reunion over the past year that included a global stadium tour, the release of the Deadline EP, and continued solo projects.
Miley also launched a new era without the Cyrus surname. After teasing the project for about a week and adopting a mononymous name change, the pop star released “Bass Persuades,” the title track from her next album, which is scheduled for release on September 18. Beyoncé celebrated the 20th anniversary of her B’Day album by releasing a previously unheard bonus track titled “Can I Watch You” featuring Pharrell.
Adéla released her debut album, Prima, while Medium Build, Ellie Goulding, Mau P, Amelie Lens, Malie Donn, and Johnny Venus also shared new songs and projects. Billboard asked readers to vote for their favorite new music release of the week in a poll.
