Avery Island: Big Attractions in Louisiana

Tucked inside Iberia Parish in southern Louisiana lies Avery Island — a remarkable stretch of land we’ve meticulously recreated for the forthcoming . Here’s a closer look at what makes this place so distinctive.

Avery Island: Big Attractions in Louisiana
Dense bayous and live oaks form Avery Island’s signature landscape.

Encircled by swamps and winding bayous, Avery Island is defined by verdant growth, towering live oaks, and thick underbrush — all faithfully reproduced by our vegetation and asset teams. Wildlife is abundant here; while you explore the island in-game you might catch sight of snowy egrets, white-tailed deer, or even an American alligator.

Beyond its natural beauty, Avery Island carries a rich cultural legacy. The McIlhenny family settled here in the mid-1800s and developed pepper cultivation and sauce-making traditions that later became known worldwide. That heritage still shapes the island’s identity today.

Avery Island’s massive subterranean salt dome supplied vital minerals for preserving and fermenting peppers, while the region’s warm, humid climate proved ideal for growing spicy pepper varieties. These factors combined to create a distinctive production environment that helped establish the island’s reputation in hot sauce history.

Over generations, producers on the island refined their craft — aging pepper mash in wooden barrels and honing techniques that would influence sauce-making far beyond Louisiana. That enduring tradition has left a lasting imprint on the island’s culture, economy, and status as one of America’s most iconic hot sauce centers.

To represent this celebrated industry in American Truck Simulator, we created an in-game brand called Flavorfair — the island’s food processing plant. From there you’ll be able to load the well-known Jalapeño hot sauce and deliver it across the United States.

Oversized load on a highway
Special Transport jobs require careful planning, escorts, and precise driving.

These routes have been carefully planned by our dispatch team, but you should still expect tight manoeuvres and memorable scenery en route to your destination. Trained escort crews and local law enforcement will assist where necessary — sometimes pausing traffic to ensure a safe passage.
