Asha Sharma Praises Gears of War: E-Day Developers as Players Criticize the Game
Not everyone has appreciated the new installment in the franchise.
Gears of War: E-Day recently launched fully on PC and Xbox Series X|S. The new franchise entry has drawn considerable attention from players and received high praise from critics.
For instance, the shooter holds a score of 87 out of 100 on Metacritic across more than 50 reviews, while the OpenCritic aggregator also lists an 87 out of 100 following 82 reviews from various publications.
Asha Sharma, head of Microsoft’s gaming division, decided to congratulate developer The Coalition on the strong reviews for Gears of War: E-Day by reposting a promotional poster featuring a concise quote: “fucking masterpiece.”
Online critics of Gears of War: E-Day have pointed out the presence of an “agenda” in the game and the portrayal of very strong female characters. Attentive players noticed a credit mention of “agenda specialists” from Hit Detection, which is similar to Sweet Baby Inc.
Even so, user ratings for Gears of War: E-Day on Metacritic remain solid at 8.5 out of 10, while Steam lists the game with “mostly positive” reviews and a 75% rating. Individuals unhappy with the “agenda” have not succeeded in tanking the game’s scores across various platforms.
In terms of the franchise chronology, Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel, offering developers a chance to look back at Emergence Day:
Step back fourteen years before the events of the original Gears of War to join Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in a gripping campaign detailing how the Locust Horde first erupts from underground.
