Work on the sequel to Mutant Mayhem is progressing steadily, despite the release being postponed by nearly a year.
Although Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has faced a substantial delay, production is confidently moving toward completion. In an interview with ScreenRant, director Jeff Rowe revealed the team recently held an internal screening of a rough cut, and the reaction was described as “extremely positive.”
According to Rowe, the project is “shifting from development into execution,” and the crew is focused on preserving the same energy that made the first film a success. The sequel will feature an updated visual approach while remaining true to the original’s signature aesthetic. Plot details are being kept under wraps, though it has been confirmed that Shredder—hinted at in the first film’s ending—will return as the main antagonist.
Mutant Mayhem 2 was originally slated for an October 2026 release, but has been pushed back to September 2027.
The update arrives amid significant shake-ups within the franchise. Paramount recently confirmed a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film from Sonic the Hedgehog producer Neal Moritz, scheduled for November 2028. That project is being positioned as a family-friendly take, while a darker adaptation of the comic The Last Ronin has been temporarily shelved.
