Andrei Tarkovsky’s final film to be re-released

The distribution company InoeKino has announced a theatrical re-release of Andrei Tarkovsky’s final masterpiece, The Sacrifice. This iconic film is set to return to cinemas on October 29.

First released in 1986, The Sacrifice marked its 40th anniversary in 2026. Filmed in Sweden, this profound cinematic work serves as an apocalyptic allegory exploring the spiritual malaise of the modern individual.

Tarkovsky’s swan song was highly acclaimed, earning both the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and a BAFTA Award. The re-release features a stunning 4K restoration and will be presented in its original language with Russian subtitles.
