With only days left until the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, a new report indicates the game’s sales are trailing far behind Battlefield 6.
The latest entry in one of the most recognizable shooter franchises is set to launch on November 14, 2025. Since the announcement it has stirred heated debate: some fans are eager for a return to classic elements, while others criticize the direction Activision is taking.
Data from Alinea Analytics shows that pre-orders for Black Ops 7 are markedly lower than those for EA’s competing title.
The study examines the 18 days leading up to each game’s Steam release. In that window Battlefield 6 moved nearly a million units, whereas Black Ops 7 recorded only about 200,000 sales.
The situation is compounded by Black Ops 7 sitting just 173rd on Steam’s wishlist rankings. The report, however, accounts only for the PC edition—many fans favor console platforms or are waiting for a release on Xbox Game Pass.
By contrast, Battlefield 6 is delivering strong performance: over 10 million copies sold and at least 300,000 active players on Steam. Its free-to-play mode, Battlefield RedSec, has also quickly attracted a sizable audience.
Analysts note that the Call of Duty franchise still retains a vast community. Even if initial numbers are weak, the Warzone ecosystem and robust console sales could help the title finish strong. Definitive results will become clear after release.
