After an incredible 46-week run dominating the Netflix U.S. movie charts, the Sony Animation powerhouse KPop Demon Hunters has finally relinquished its spot in the streaming giant’s Top 10 list. Since its spectacular arrival in June 2025, the film had been a persistent fixture in the rankings, marking a truly historic chapter in streaming history.

For the week concluding May 10, the film was pushed out of the domestic Top 10 by a wave of fresh releases, including the inventive animated body-swapping tale Swapped, the poignant octopus-led drama Remarkably Bright Creatures, and the pulse-pounding Charlize Theron vehicle Apex.

However, Rumi, Zoey, and Mira haven’t faded away entirely. The film remains a global sensation, holding firm in the Top 10 English-language movies worldwide for 47 consecutive weeks. After securing the No. 5 spot globally last week, it’s clear the Huntr/x phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

It is impossible to overstate the impact KPop Demon Hunters had on 2025, with its titular demon-slaying icons conquering both the Billboard charts and Netflix’s most-watched lists. The film’s runaway success even paved the way for a lucrative theatrical release. Beyond the screen, the franchise permeated pop culture: from Rumi, Zoey, and Mira appearing in Fortnite to the vocal cast—Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami—delivering show-stopping performances on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show.

The momentum carried straight into 2026. This year alone has seen the launch of American Girl Dolls and Lego sets, high-profile collaborations with McDonald’s, and prestigious Grammy victories. Perhaps most impressively, the film has even been canonized by the Criterion Collection, sharing shelf space with cinematic landmarks like Pinocchio and The Irishman.

While the initial U.S. Top 10 run has concluded, few would bet against a resurgence. Netflix recently formalized a multiyear creative partnership with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, almost certainly paving the way for KPop Demon Hunters 2. When that highly anticipated sequel finally debuts, expect the original film to climb back into the rankings with renewed vigor.

KPop Demon Hunters is streaming exclusively on Netflix.
