Free-to-Play The Division Resurgence Released on Steam to Poor Player Reviews

The franchise has returned with a new installment, but questions surround its quality.

Ubisoft Entertainment is not only continuing to support Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, but is also expanding the franchise further. In early August, The Division Resurgence launched on PC via Steam, following prior releases for mobile devices and users of the Ubisoft Connect service.

The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play game rather than a premium title. It is positioned as a looter-shooter with role-playing elements, tactical combat, and a “deep progression system.” In addition, the creators promise an exclusive storyline that will be included in the series canon.

According to the plot, players are invited to take on the role of a Strategic Homeland Division agent deployed during the chaos that followed a lethal epidemic outbreak. Fighters must battle for New York:

Every battle is a test where positioning, timing, and teamwork decide everything. Move between covers, flank enemies, use skills and gadgets to turn the situation to your advantage. The right choice of approach and tools will determine the outcome of the fight.

The Division Resurgence received “Mixed” reviews on Steam, as players do not understand why the developers ported a free-to-play looter-shooter from mobile devices to PC. According to some, “a mobile game should stay on mobile devices.”
