ATS and the 2022 Steam Awards: Labor of Love nomination
Steam opened nominations for the 2022 Steam Awards alongside the Autumn Sale on November 24, 2022. SCS Software asked players to consider American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2 for the Labor of Love category.
Why SCS chose Labor of Love
The category was intended for games that continued to evolve after release. SCS pointed to years of free updates, new features, map expansions and additional vehicles across both truck simulators. The studio also noted that more large and small projects were still in development at the time.
American Truck Simulator had launched in 2016, while Euro Truck Simulator 2 dated back to 2012. Their long support cycles made the ongoing-development category a more natural fit than awards focused on a single release year.
The 2022 nomination phase
SCS recalled that Euro Truck Simulator 2 won two categories during the first Steam Awards in 2016. In 2022 the studio requested nominations and did not announce ATS or ETS2 as a finalist or winner.
The 2022 nomination window opened with the Steam Autumn Sale and later closed. SCS asked for community nominations; the announcement did not identify ATS or ETS2 as a finalist or winner.
