Renowned Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland has unveiled her latest project: a biographical film centered on Marlene Dietrich, titled “Berlinweh — Yearning for a Home.”
The production will be helmed by the team behind Holland’s Kafka biopic, “Franz,” with the Franco-German firm Films Boutique handling distribution. The narrative will explore Dietrich’s life through four pivotal chapters spanning different decades: Paris in 1937, Bergen-Belsen in 1945, California in 1954, and Paris in 1974. Regarding her vision for the film, Holland noted:
We are focusing on those rare, transformative moments that capture what is most profound and universal—the facets of her journey that resonate most deeply today. The story of a woman, an artist, a citizen, and a human being.
