Actress Diane Ladd has died

American actress Diane Ladd has died at the age of 89, her daughter Laura Dern announced.

Ladd was born in 1935 in Mississippi. She was a cousin of playwright Tennessee Williams (author of A Streetcar Named Desire). Ladd’s early career included jazz performances, stage work and television roles. From 1960 to 1969 she was married to actor Bruce Dern.

Some of Ladd’s most notable credits include Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, David Lynch’s Wild at Heart, Roman Polanski’s Chinatown, as well as Primary Colors, 28 Days and Joy, among others. She was nominated for an Academy Award three times and won a Golden Globe for the sitcom Alice.
