Action RPG Crimson Moon Joins Busy September Release Calendar

September is already shaping up to be an exceptionally crowded month for game launches, and enthusiasts of action RPGs now have another compelling title to add to their radar. Developed by ProbablyMonsters, Crimson Moon is slated for release on September 1 with an accessible $20 price tag.

By blending core mechanics inspired by the Soulslike genre with a run-based structure, Crimson Moon prioritizes highly replayable missions. Players assume the mantle of a half-human, half-angel protagonist fighting to liberate Gildenarch, a besieged gothic metropolis. The experience delivers the demanding precision combat and intricate character progression that veterans of the genre crave. Whether venturing forth solo or teaming up with a companion in two-player cooperative mode, adventurers will find a balanced challenge; the game dynamically scales Gildenarch’s three distinct districts to match party size. Successfully conquering all three sectors consecutively leads to a punishing world boss designed to test ultimate mastery. In total, players must conquer three such guardians before facing the monumental final boss.

Despite its uncompromising mechanical depth, the development team purposefully designed the title to welcome newcomers, a philosophy reflected in its modest $20 entry cost. “We’ve crafted an intense, atmospheric action-adventure RPG that remains deeply approachable,” stated David Lesperance, general manager and game director, in an official press release. “Anchored by striking gothic aesthetics, seamless co-op functionality, and an epic heavy metal soundtrack, we are thrilled to offer players something genuinely distinctive this September.”

For those looking to elevate their journey, the Crimson Moon Deluxe Edition bumps the investment to $30. This enhanced bundle grants immediate access to the exclusive Ceremonial Armor Set and the Axe of the Gods weapon cosmetic, alongside a planned post-launch expansion.

While we walked away thoroughly impressed by our hands-on preview at the Game Developers Conference 2026, Crimson Moon faces fierce competition in a stacked autumn launch window—including another heavyweight action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, arriving just 48 hours later. Nevertheless, with its unique gameplay framework, wallet-friendly price point, and early-month release date, ProbablyMonsters has all the ingredients needed to captivate players when it launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 1.
