Chanel has unveiled a surreal short film starring A$AP Rocky and Margaret Qualley, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michel Gondry. The three-minute vignette, released on Nov. 30, follows the pair through a whimsical, dreamlike sequence that blends romance and cinematic spectacle.

The clip opens on an intimate morning scene: Rocky and Qualley awake together, but Qualley soon rushes off to catch a New York City subway. Rocky then embarks on a cinematic pursuit across Manhattan — sprinting down streets and even swimming across a river while clad in red silk pajamas — culminating in a romantic on-screen proposal.

The silent visual is underscored by a score from Le Motel and functions as a preview for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art 2026 presentation. Chanel plans to debut the collection on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET, with the full film slated to release that same evening.

Recently appointed as a Chanel ambassador, A$AP Rocky reflected on working with Gondry, whose film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind remains a touchstone for many directors and visual auteurs. Rocky credited Gondry’s movies as formative influences on his own video work and said the collaboration inspired his ambition to direct feature-length material in the future.

After Chanel posted a teaser to Instagram, fans swarmed the comments with playful and pointed reactions — many invoking Rocky’s partner, Rihanna, in humorous responses. Social chatter ranged from teasing jests to lighthearted declarations about sending the clip to Rihanna.

Margaret Qualley is married to musician and producer Jack Antonoff; the couple wed in August 2023 in a ceremony attended by a number of high-profile friends and collaborators, including Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz and Cara Delevingne.
