A Remaster Nobody Asked For? Players Ignored the Release of Tales of Berseria Remastered
The “Tales Remastered” project was originally conceived as a gateway to bring overlooked entries of the franchise to modern gaming hardware.
This mission held true during its early stages, marked by the releases of Tales of Symphonia Remastered, Tales of Xillia Remastered, and Tales of Graces f Remastered.
However, the recent debut of Tales of Berseria Remastered has sparked skepticism. Since the original title remains fully playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility, the necessity of a dedicated remaster has been called into question.
Audience engagement has been notably sluggish. On Steam, the game’s concurrent player count peaked at just 626—a result that pales in comparison to other installments. To put this in perspective, Tales of Xillia Remastered attracted over 1,300 players, while the original Tales of Berseria achieved a peak of 8,085.
Currently, the remaster holds a lukewarm 61% positive rating on Steam.
