Francis Lawrence’s “The Long Walk” became available to rent or buy on digital platforms on October 21, 2025. The premium video-on-demand release followed the Lionsgate film’s US theatrical opening on September 12.

The film adapts Stephen King’s early novel about a state-run endurance contest. Young participants must keep walking above a required pace while armed soldiers monitor the route. Warnings expire after a limited period, and anyone who cannot continue is killed. Only one walker can remain at the end.

Cooper Hoffman plays Ray Garraty, with David Jonsson as Peter McVries. The cast also includes Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Josh Hamilton, Judy Greer and Mark Hamill. JT Mollner wrote the screenplay. Lawrence directed the film and served as one of its producers.

The October digital window brought the film to participating services including Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Google TV and YouTube. Availability and pricing vary by country and retailer, so the release was a digital rental and purchase window rather than a universal subscription-streaming debut.

Lionsgate’s official site provides retailer links, the theatrical trailer and the production credits. Prime Video also lists the film as a 2025 release. The official one-sheet shows the walkers advancing under armed supervision, matching the contest described in the synopsis.
