The dystopian thriller “The Long Walk” has premiered digitally on international platforms, Forbes reports.
The Lionsgate production is adapted from Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Set in an alternate United States, the plot follows a group of young people forced into a lethal endurance contest: they must keep walking for thousands of kilometers without stopping, and only the last survivor will win.
The cast includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Charlie Plummer, Mark Hamill and Judy Greer, with Francis Lawrence (known for “The Hunger Games”) directing. Critics have praised the film, which holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie opened in theaters in September and earned $53.5 million. Russian audiences brought in 307 million rubles for “The Long Walk.” Distribution was handled by Volga. The domestic digital release date will be announced later.
