8 Cyberpunk 2077 Replay Ideas to Make Night City Feel Brand New
V is running out of time. That is the setup of Cyberpunk 2077: a stolen chip is slowly overwriting V’s mind. The only way out leads through a gallery of fixers, rock legends, and corporate assassins, and every one of them wants something from you. Even with stakes that high, you probably spent much of the game finishing gigs, scanning NCPD crime scenes, and drifting through Night City’s neon-soaked back alleys. Then the credits rolled, and moments later you were staring at the character creator again.
You’re in good company. Cyberpunk 2077 keeps pulling players into another run (or a third, or a fourth), no matter how many hours they’ve already sunk into it. There’s fresh content to explore, such as the new Edgerunners 2 Update, which adds a perk that lets V wield two guns at once. Still, self-imposed challenges can make this familiar game feel brand new. Here are eight rules for seeing Night City as if for the first time.
8. Ride out as a twin-revolver cowboy
Rules of the gig: Begin as a Nomad, build V around revolvers, and dress the part.
Nomads are Night City’s outsiders, roaming clans who make their lives in the Badlands beyond the city limits. Choose the Nomad origin and V joins the Aldecaldos, the clan that includes Panam Palmer, a fiery driver who can grow into your closest ally. It’s an ideal foundation for playing a classic cowboy devoted to family. Commit to it with scuffed jeans and a wide-brimmed hat, travel everywhere by motorcycle, and build around handguns, revolvers above all. There’s a new trick to exploit, too. The Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, added by the Edgerunners 2 Update, lets V dual-wield pistols and revolvers from the Power category. On an older build, a single iron will still do the job. Keep the act convincing: never leave the bike behind, treat every NPC like a neighbor, and let the revolvers do the talking.
7. Clean out Watson before the heist

Rules of the gig: Stay away from Konpeki Plaza until Watson is completely finished. Every last bit of it.
How long can you postpone the most important job of your life? Early in Cyberpunk 2077, V and their partner Jackie accept a job from the fixer Dex. It’s a heist at Konpeki Plaza that sets the entire story in motion, yet nothing forces you to begin it. Some players refuse to touch it until Watson is cleared. That means working through a long run of gigs, cyberpsycho hunts, NCPD scanner calls, and side jobs, which can bring you to around level 20 before the heist begins.
You could treat the delay as a shopping spree. Level up until you can afford Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, or double-jump legs, then tell Jackie you’re ready for Dex’s offer, so V strolls into Konpeki Plaza with a signature loadout. Or play it as characterization: this V is too sharp to accept the biggest job of their life without a few favors banked, so they build up gigs and scanner work as insurance first. You might also spend the time chasing Street Cred, the reputation meter that opens up better vendor gear and later gigs. Whichever route you take, by the time you walk into Konpeki Plaza you’ll be overleveled, overequipped, and thoroughly prepared for the job that changes everything.
6. Do… less

Rules of the gig: Choose one lifepath, a handful of characters, and a single fixer. Ignore everything else.
Completionism has its pleasures, but a more focused replay lets you dig deeper into one storyline or build. You might make it your mission to rid V of Johnny Silverhand, the rockstar whose digital ghost haunts their head. Pursue that goal at the expense of everything else, as you surely would if Keanu Reeves were lodged in your skull. In practice, that could mean never meeting Goro, the former Arasaka bodyguard, or Panam, Rogue, or Claire, and sticking with Judy among the supporting cast. Want more ideas for narrow runs? Try a Valentinos loyalist who never leaves Heywood, a Voodoo Boys netrunner who never leaves Pacifica, or a Mox-only run that never leaves Judy’s side. Everyone you skip will still be waiting at the Afterlife next time.
5. Go natural (as much as Night City allows)

Rules of the gig: No cyberware beyond what the story forces on you. No exceptions, not even for armor.
Since Update 2.0, nearly all armor in Cyberpunk 2077 comes from cyberware rather than clothing. Playing without it feels like walking into a firefight in a cardigan, which is exactly what makes this challenge so oddly invigorating. A no-cyberware run costs you the game’s best protection and much of your mobility. A katana, careful blocking, and a stealth or sniper build are likely your strongest options. You also gain more freedom with fashion: clothing is now largely cosmetic, so wear whatever you please. Just be warned that your first encounter with a cyberpsycho will remind you why everyone else installed the chrome.
4. Become a netrunner who never fires a shot

Rules of the gig: Hack, never shoot. Every kill must come from a quickhack.
Netrunners are hackers who jack into enemy networks through a cyberdeck, using quickhacks to disable, distract, and eliminate targets from afar. At low levels these short-range code attacks are fairly weak, so the first few hours can be rough. Push through, though, and this becomes one of the most overpowered builds in the game. You can step into a room and wipe out an entire group without firing a single bullet. You can even stay unseen by chaining Memory Wipe into Cyberware Malfunction, which removes enemies without alerting anyone. You don’t need to invest anything in stealth, because the build handles it for you. Just remember that your cyberdeck is now your weapon, so spend on anything that boosts your RAM.
3. Settle everything with Gorilla Arms

Rules of the gig: Fists only. No hacking, no other weapons.
Punch first, then keep punching. Gorilla Arms are the chrome of choice for anyone who prefers to resolve things up close. A brawler run means no hacking and no weapons, just the arms. Pour your attribute points into Body, which fuels the Blunt Weapon perks that directly strengthen Gorilla Arms, and add Reinforced Tendons, the double-jump legs, to close the gap. The Edgerunners 2 Update gives you even more to play with: five Glamdocs around Night City can now restyle your Gorilla Arms, along with Mantis Blades, Monowire, and the Projectile Launch System. If you’re going to send an enemy flying across a room with your bare hands, you may as well do it in hot pink.
2. Switch off the minimap

Rules of the gig: No minimap. Find your way by landmarks alone, with the map screen only as a last resort.
The quickest way to rediscover Night City is to stop staring at the corner of your screen. Turn the minimap off, and while reaching your destination may take longer, you’ll almost certainly stumble onto places you’ve never seen. Night City is a vertical metropolis of districts such as Kabuki, Japantown, and Pacifica, each with its own landmarks and shortcuts, and you’ll come to know them by heart. Let the skyline serve as your compass: Arasaka Tower looms over everything, so find it and you’ll get your bearings. To go further, slow down. With this approach, aim for a 100-hour playthrough rather than a 30-hour one. Read every shard. Cruise around slowly with the radio on. Treat Cyberpunk 2077 like a neon-lit neo-noir novel. It works better than you’d expect.
1. Sell out

Rules of the gig: Play a Corpo, take the self-serving option in every conversation, and side with whoever is winning.
Sometimes it really is every man for himself, and that’s fine. Cyberpunk 2077 offers three origins: Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo. You can play each however you like, but certain styles pair more naturally with certain backstories. Picture a Street Kid who becomes a hero to the people, a loyal Nomad who never abandons family, or a slippery Corpo who sided with the cops whenever it paid off. Each origin unlocks its own dialogue options and consequences, so a Corpo sees doors a Street Kid never will. If being cruel to pixels makes you feel guilty in real life, this run is good practice. In Night City, everyone has a price. On this run, you finally name yours.
