Payday 2 H3H3 DLC Review-Bombed on Steam After Ethan Klein Affair Disclosure

Some players fear the pack will soon be pulled from sale.

The h3h3 Character Pack DLC for the co-op shooter Payday 2 is back in the spotlight after 11 years. Over the past few days it has collected a wave of negative reviews, and its recent reviews are rated “Overwhelmingly Negative.”

The backlash has nothing to do with a game update or any statement from Starbreeze Studio. It stems from a real-life infidelity.

The h3h3 Character Pack includes a rapid-fire bow, explosive and poisoned arrows, masks, and two playable characters, Ethan and Hila.

Ethan and Hila Klein are a real-life couple of bloggers. Hila recently announced that her husband had cheated on her:

The person I loved and trusted for 20 years disappeared overnight. He was my partner in marriage, in raising our children, and in business. […] I don’t know what comes next. I have never been in this situation before. I’m in survival mode, trying to cope with the separation, co-parenting, and unimaginable heartbreak.

Players are now buying the h3h3 Character Pack as a collector’s item because they fear it will soon be removed. They are also leaving negative reviews that play on the word “cheating,” which can mean either cheating in a game or infidelity:

I tried playing online as Ethan and got flagged as a “cheater” — Suparockr
