4:Loop: J.J. Abrams’ New Cloning Shooter Inspired by Left 4 Dead

4:Loop - A new sci-fi cooperative shooter from J.J. Abrams

During the 2025 Game Awards, visionary filmmaker J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) made a surprise appearance alongside Mike Booth, the lead designer of the iconic Left 4 Dead, to unveil 4:Loop. This high-octane project is being brought to life by Abrams’ own production house, Bad Robot Games.

At its heart, 4:Loop is a four-player cooperative shooter infused with a distinct science-fiction edge. The game features a unique “reprinting” mechanic: when a player falls in battle, their character is cloned and redeployed. This allows squads to dynamically shift their tactics and experiment with fresh strategies as they push back against an overwhelming extraterrestrial invasion.
