007 First Light Significantly Delayed on Nintendo Switch 2
Initially envisioned as a simultaneous worldwide release, the rollout for 007 First Light has faced a series of hurdles. While the title successfully debuted back in late May for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 owners have been left waiting. Unfortunately, anticipation has turned into frustration once more, as the Switch 2 adaptation has encountered yet another setback.
The port is now projected to arrive in March 2027. Although the Switch 2 boasts exceptional portability and a robust library, it inevitably trails behind current-generation rival hardware in raw power. Consequently, porting demanding, high-fidelity titles to Nintendo’s system demands rigorous optimization, which frequently necessitates extended development windows compared to its console counterparts.
The journey has been turbulent from the start. March 27, 2026, was originally marked as the universal launch target before production delays shifted the window to May 27. Just weeks ahead of that revised rollout, the Switch 2 iteration was postponed to “later this summer.” By repeatedly over-promising launch windows, developer IO Interactive has inadvertently cultivated a cycle of premature optimism followed by repeated disappointment for patient fans.
007 First Light Nintendo Switch 2 launch pushed to March 2027
Even after making a prominent appearance during the September Nintendo Direct with a tentative 2026 release framing, the port has officially slipped into next year.
On the bright side, the Switch 2 build was recently showcased at Gamescom and is slated for a playable demo at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. IO Interactive is actively gathering community feedback to refine the port’s technical state, aiming to deliver a polished, high-performing experience worthy of Agent 007 right out of the gate.
As things stand, 007 First Light is provisionally penciled in for March 2027, barring any unforeseen changes. A precise calendar release date has yet to be finalized.
Even if it occasionally feels more like espionage sandbox than traditional stealth action.
