Zendaya recently orchestrated a stunning sartorial crossover, channeling the legacies of two cultural titans—one a vocal powerhouse and the other a fictional fashion oracle. Attending the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards on March 12, the multi-hyphenate star turned heads in an archival masterpiece previously donned by Whitney Houston and Sarah Jessica Parker’s legendary Sex and the City protagonist, Carrie Bradshaw.

Commanding the Los Angeles red carpet, Zendaya radiated sophistication in an ivory Eugene Stutzman gown. The vintage piece is defined by its intricate gold embellishments and a dramatic, sculptural fabric bloom that erupts from the shoulder. Captured in various clips from the event, the actress moved with effortless grace, showcasing the dress’s architectural silhouette while sharing lighthearted moments with photographers.

Law Roach, the “Architect of Image” and Zendaya’s long-standing stylist, took to social media to celebrate the look’s significance. “An ICONIC piece of fashion history,” he proclaimed on X (formerly Twitter), later adding an enthusiastic “And just like that…. I found it!!” on Instagram.

The gown’s lineage is steeped in prestige. As Roach highlighted, a photograph of Whitney Houston wearing the same design in 1987 was eventually selected for the cover of Life magazine following her passing in 2012. The dress earned further pop-culture immortality in 2008 when Sarah Jessica Parker wore it during the iconic opening credits of Sex and the City: The Movie.

This latest fashion moment follows a wave of media attention for the duo, sparked by Roach’s playful, viral comment suggesting Zendaya and Tom Holland had already tied the knot in private. “The wedding has already happened,” he told reporters. “You missed it.”

On the professional front, Zendaya is bracing for a monumental year. She is set to star alongside Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film The Drama and will soon bid farewell to her Emmy-winning role as Rue Bennett. Both The Drama and the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria are slated for April premieres.

However, the atmosphere surrounding the HBO series has turned tense. Labrinth, the composer responsible for the show’s signature soundscape, recently voiced his frustrations with the industry in a series of heated social media posts. “I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY,” he wrote on March 13, adding a scathing dismissal of both his label and the production itself.
