Yoko Taro warned NieR fans that half of the “autographs” online are fake

Yoko Taro, the creator of NieR and Drakengard, warned fans about counterfeit autographs that are being widely sold on online marketplaces. On his X account he replied to a fan’s post showing a disc purportedly signed by him and confirmed the signature was not genuine.

The image was sourced from a now-removed Vinted listing. The fake listing offered the original NieR Re[in]carnation soundtrack — typically priced around $29.99 — for more than $230 because it claimed to include the developer’s “autograph.”

Yoko Taro says this is far from an isolated case. He explained he can distinguish authentic signatures from forgeries because he always includes small, unique details only he knows. The developer asserts that nearly half of the autographs offered for resale are fraudulent.

Yoko Taro advised fans not to spend money on such offers and to refrain from purchasing autographs through third-party resale platforms.
