XG’s ‘The Core’ Voted This Week’s Favorite New Music by Fans
Fans Crown XG’s Debut LP ‘The Core’ as the Week’s Top New Release

XG’s highly anticipated first full-length effort, The Core, has emerged as the definitive favorite among music enthusiasts in this week’s fan-voted survey.
Following a poll launched last Friday (Jan. 23), the Japanese vocal powerhouse secured the top spot, with listeners choosing the group’s debut studio arrival as the standout release of the period.
In a particularly crowded week for new music—which featured high-profile drops from former One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles, as well as fresh material from Arctic Monkeys, Fred Again.., and Young Thug—XG maintained a commanding lead. The group ultimately captured over 50% of the total vote, demonstrating the immense strength of their global fanbase.
Marketed as a “defining artistic statement,” The Core represents a significant milestone for the seven-member collective, consisting of Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey. The 10-track project’s arrival was celebrated with the release of a cinematic music video for the new single, “Hypnotize.”
Reflecting on the album’s ambitious scope last autumn, executive producer JAKOPS (SIMON) shared with Billboard Japan that his ultimate objective for The Core was to “craft the most exceptional record in the world.”
To support the new release, XG is preparing to embark on an international tour, which is scheduled to kick off this February in Yokohama, Japan.
Trailing XG in the rankings were Louis Tomlinson’s How Did I Get Here?, which garnered 46% of the vote, and Harry Styles’ atmospheric single “Aperture,” which took home 2%.
Weekly Poll Final Results:
- XG, The Core: 51%
- Louis Tomlinson, How Did I Get Here?: 46%
- Harry Styles, “Aperture”: 2%
- Others: 1%
