Rising Dallas hip-hop artist BigXThaPlug is facing fresh legal complications following a multi-charge arrest in North Texas.

In an uncanny parallel, the 28-year-old musician—born Xavier Landum—was taken into custody on Friday, August 21, precisely twelve months to the day after a previous arrest involving nearly identical allegations.

According to local reporting from Dallas affiliate KDFW, Landum was apprehended by the Allen Police Department and subsequently booked into the Collin County Detention Facility. Jail records indicate the rapper faces misdemeanor charges for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana (under two ounces), along with a charge for unlawful possession of a firearm.

At the time of this latest incident, Landum was reportedly out on bond stemming from his August 21, 2025, arrest in North Texas on narcotics and weapons violations. The artist had also encountered legal scrutiny earlier that year, when he was detained in Arlington, Texas, on a misdemeanor cannabis possession charge.

Tour Cancellations and Festival Updates

The arrest immediately disrupted Landum’s touring commitments. He was forced to withdraw from his scheduled performance at the Country Rising Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Event organizers released statements across social media platforms, expressing regret over the abrupt absence and informing attendees that the cancellation stemmed from an unexpected “personal emergency.”

Despite the setback in Canada, his upcoming concert schedule elsewhere appeared largely unaffected. Representatives for the Iowa State Fair Grandstand informed Des Moines news outlet KCCI that they had coordinated with Landum’s management team and anticipated his headlining appearance would proceed as scheduled.

Chart-Topping Momentum

These recurring encounters with law enforcement coincide with the most commercially lucrative phase of Landum’s career. The Texas native achieved his maiden chart-topper on Billboard‘s Hot Rap Songs with “All the Way,” a genre-blending collaboration featuring country star Bailey Zimmerman. His critically lauded project, I Hope You’re Happy, solidified his crossover appeal by debuting in the top two positions on both the Top Rap Albums and Top Country Albums rankings.
