Xbox Simplifies Age Verification Process for Players

Comment Views: 0

The age verification system within the Xbox ecosystem has long been a source of controversy.

Microsoft began gradually introducing mandatory adult verification one year ago, starting in the United Kingdom and later expanding to other countries.

Users had to provide documents or use third-party services, which frustrated players concerned about privacy.

Microsoft has now unexpectedly begun sending messages to many users stating that age verification is no longer required. Notifications on consoles and in the app explicitly state that no further action is needed from the player.

The new system evaluates age based on account tenure. If a profile has existed for many years, the algorithm automatically assigns it adult status.

At the same time, the changes are not yet in effect in all countries. For example, document verification remains mandatory in Australia due to local legislation.
