The Warships of the Pacific expansion officially launches tomorrow, accompanied by the comprehensive 1.17.5 update. While PDX_Gorion will provide a deep dive into our development philosophy in tomorrow’s release post, we are pleased to share the full list of improvements and changes today.

User Interface Enhancements

  • Integrated a streamlined equipment category dropdown and a reset toggle within the division designer’s model selector.
  • Refined the sorting logic for equipment models to ensure special projects are prioritized at the top of the list.
  • Introduced a dynamic pool priority system for model sorting, replacing the previous cohort-based method.
  • Expanded the functionality for managing control groups.
  • Synchronized the Division Designer’s model prioritization to match the visual representation on the world map.
  • Expanded the model selector interface to display five entries simultaneously, up from three.
  • The model selector grid now features visual thumbnails for easier identification.

Game Balance & Fine-Tuning

  • Addressed a typographical error in “airforce” and significantly buffed Lindberg’s leader trait, increasing the air range bonus from a negligible 1% to a meaningful 5%.
  • Reduced the “Victors of the Great War” mastery gain penalty for France to -15%.
  • Adjusted the “Fund the Navy” focus duration to 35 days.
  • Introduced faction influence penalties for all puppets, ranging from -10% to -75% based on their specific autonomy level.

New Content & Mechanics

  • Restructured the United States naval Order of Battle, separating Nevada and Tennessee-class vessels into their own distinct ship classes rather than grouping them under the Pennsylvania-class.
  • USA: The “Carrier Primacy” focus now correctly grants the Essex-class carrier upon unlocking the necessary technology.
  • USA: The “Convoy Tactics” focus now unlocks the Casablanca-class escort carrier design following the completion of the related special project.
  • The Japanese Carrier Submarine special project now correctly generates the I-400 design.
  • Added authentic Leander and County-class cruiser designs to the Australian fleet.
  • Introduced Coastal Defense Ship technology to the United Kingdom’s research tree.
  • Added the Erebus-class Monitor to the UK, utilizing the new Coastal Defense Ship hull.
  • Assigned the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror to the British Reserve Fleet.
  • The “Second Vienna Award” event chain now includes the state of Banat when selecting the “All of Transylvania” option.
  • Equipped Japan with a starting paratrooper template.
  • Optimized fleet AI to prioritize naval bases with a higher number of available repair slots when docking for maintenance.
  • Rebalanced faction influence sources: Increased gains from Warscore and Lend-Lease, decreased gains from Scientists, and implemented a slight increase to passive initiative growth.
  • Added a dedicated name list for British Monitors.
  • Included an Erebus-class 1939 refit for the British fleet in the 1939 start date.
  • Renamed the “I-400 Class” to the historically accurate Japanese “Sentoku Class.”
  • Implementing a successful naval blockade no longer prevents the blockading power from trading through those specific regions.

Optimization & Stability

  • Resolved a performance bug where the ‘RepairNow’ function would trigger excessive pathfinding calculations.
  • Enhanced the handling of high-capacity multiplayer lobbies to ensure a smoother experience for all participants.

Artificial Intelligence Refinement

  • Overhauled German industrial priorities to better match their unit templates and improved AI decision-making regarding convoy raiding, fleet concentration, and pre-war equipment liquidation.
  • Improved US naval ship design templates and production prioritization.
  • Updated the Japanese starting paratrooper template to consist of three battalions instead of two.
  • Modified the Ma Clique AI to delay mutual guarantees until the late game and restricted Sinkiang (SIK) from becoming a Soviet puppet until they maintain full control over their core territories.
  • Enhanced the USA’s strategic logic for more effective operations in the Pacific theater.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Belgium from deploying the “Division d’Infanterie.”
  • Recalibrated research weights for naval powers to encourage more aggressive maritime technology advancement.
  • AI nations will now utilize the “Fund the Navy” focus and optimize the timing of naval doctrine selection to maximize bonuses.
  • The AI will now prioritize ship training more effectively, contingent on fuel availability.
  • Adjusted AI research priorities for Fire Control Methods.

Modding Support & Tools

  • Added support for executing chains of console commands using the ‘&&’ operator.
  • Enabled the display of icon weights in designers while in debug mode.
  • Implemented support for equipment pools based on SubUnitDefinitions for icon management.

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a visual bug where scavenged equipment caused infantry to appear in incorrect foreign uniforms.
  • Resolved an issue preventing decision timers from counting down.
  • Corrected icons for USA jet strategic and tactical bombers to prevent errors for players without specific DLC packs.
  • Fixed geometry clipping issues on the New Zealand “Big Bob” super-heavy tank.
  • Standardized tank scaling across various DLC packs, including Blood alone on the Battlefield.
  • Corrected the spelling of the carrier “Zuikaku” in Japanese focus rewards.
  • Relabeled the Japanese “I-400-class Missile Submarine” project to the “I-400 Submarine Carrier.”
  • Prevented a potential crash involving the removal of division templates while exiled divisions were in transit.
  • Added necessary triggers to the “Coalition of Liberty” goal to prevent it from completing under invalid circumstances.

  • Corrected scope errors for Belgian and Italian modifiers that were incorrectly targeting state-level intel.
  • Moved Godwin von Burmowski from an Air Chief role to High Command to ensure he functions correctly as an advisor.
  • Fixed the French “Grow the Empire” focus to remain available even if the Congo is a puppet.
  • Simplified and accelerated the “Develop Joint Research Practices” faction goal requirements.
  • Cleaned up localization and spacing for British infantry equipment.
  • Fixed a persistence error where auto-repeat settings for spy operations were lost upon reloading a save.
