Warner Bros. has submitted the film “Minecraft: The Movie” for Academy Award consideration — and this is no joke. The adaptation of the well-known video game is being put forward in categories such as Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (leading/supporting), Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, among others.
Notably, “Minecraft: The Movie” ranks among the highest-grossing films of 2025, and a sequel is already in development. The original release earned the studio nearly $1 billion at the global box office.
