Valve’s Steam Machines Priced From $1,049 to $1,428; Reservation Sign-ups Open Today

Valve Steam Machine console hardware lineup

Valve has officially pulled back the curtain on the pricing for its upcoming Steam Machine lineup, with retail costs spanning from $1,049 to $1,428. The hardware will be available in four distinct configurations, split between 512GB and 2TB storage options, with the choice of bundling a Steam Controller.

To ensure fair access and mitigate the impact of resellers, Valve has instituted a formal reservation system. Prospective buyers have until Thursday, June 25, at 10 a.m. PT to register their interest. Once that window closes, Valve will conduct a random drawing to determine the queue order for potential purchases.

Following the randomization process, successful registrants will receive an email on June 25th detailing their status:

  • Reservation Secured: You have been added to the purchase queue. As stock becomes available, starting June 29th, you will receive an invitation to finalize your order.
  • Waitlist: If you are placed on the waitlist, you will be notified as additional inventory is allocated.

Hardware Configurations

The premium 2TB Steam Machine is priced at $1,428 with the controller, or $1,349 as a standalone unit. Key specifications include:

  • Processor/GPU: Semi-custom AMD Zen 4 (6C/12T) and RDNA3 (28CUs)
  • Memory: 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD with microSD expandability
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Gigabit Ethernet
  • Build: Compact 6-inch cube form factor running SteamOS 3
  • Extras: Includes interchangeable red fabric and walnut faceplates, plus an integrated Steam Controller wireless adapter

The 512GB Steam Machine retails for $1,128 with the controller, while the console-only version is available for $1,049. Both models share the same internal architecture as the 2TB version, maintaining identical processing, memory, and connectivity standards in the same compact chassis.

Ultimately, the hardware performance remains consistent across the board, with the primary differentiators being the internal storage capacity and the included peripheral bundles. For a deeper look at the evolution of Valve’s hardware initiative, check out our initial reveal coverage.
