Valor Mortis Arrives on PS Plus and Game Pass with a Free Trial

One More Level Games, the acclaimed developers behind Ghostrunner, are gearing up to launch their next major title, Valor Mortis, on October 13 across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The dark action title will debut simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass, while PlayStation Plus members can test the waters through a dedicated trial version, giving a broad audience immediate, cost-free access.

Positioned as an atmospheric, first-person soulslike, Valor Mortis casts players as William, a fallen soldier within Napoleon’s historical army. Following a mysterious resurrection, William discovers that a devastating plague has horribly mutated his former comrades into grotesque monstrosities, simultaneously imbuing him with otherworldly powers. Adventurers must dispatch these corrupted horrors while hunting for rare Catalysts and Ambers—valuable resources used to unlock powerful new techniques and meticulously customize William’s combat statistics to fit individual playstyles.

Valor Mortis lands on Game Pass and PS Plus on day one

For those eager to dive into the macabre world, the wait is almost over. Valor Mortis officially launches on Tuesday, October 13. While Game Pass subscribers enjoy unrestricted access right out of the gate, PlayStation Plus members will receive a generous 90-minute trial. Considering the full campaign is projected to span roughly 20 hours, this trial offers a substantial taste of the experience, with all progress seamlessly carrying over should users decide to purchase the complete package later.

Retailing at $39.99 across all supported platforms, publisher Lyrical Games purposefully chose a more accessible price point to ensure the title stands strong amidst a heavily congested autumn release window.

“We believe it can go toe-to-toe with full-price titles, but still, this fall is stacked. That’s why we’ve decided to launch Valor Mortis for $39.99. We’ll let our game do the talking when we launch on October 13!”

In a refreshing move, digital pre-orders have been skipped entirely, preventing any exclusive content from being locked behind paywalls and ensuring a synchronized global rollout for everyone. However, collectors can still secure physical editions of Valor Mortis, which include an actual disc rather than merely a code inside a box. This physical option is especially advantageous for Xbox owners, as it unlocks a digital license via Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling them to enjoy the adventure across multiple devices, including PC.
