During the 2026 Summer PlayStation State of Play, Sony officially confirmed that a true sequel, Until Dawn 2, is currently in development. While Supermassive Games has expanded the franchise’s universe through the Dark Pictures Anthology, this upcoming title serves as a direct, numbered continuation of the original horror hit, with development duties handled by Firesprite.
The narrative shifts to a sun-drenched tropical locale, following a group of aspiring ghost hunters filming a reality television show. As they document their journey, they unwittingly cross paths with the ancient, malevolent forces first introduced in the original game. True to the series’ roots, player agency remains paramount; every choice carries weight, and the trailer ominously reiterates the core philosophy that any character can meet their end at any moment.
Until Dawn 2 is slated for release next year. According to Firesprite’s creative director, Stu Tilley, fans can look forward to more in-depth reveals and gameplay details in the months leading up to the launch.
