Ubisoft is “fighting for resources” on Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia

Ubisoft has been very profitable with a handful of main sequence in recent times, however among the firm’s most beloved names have been left by the wayside – together with the likes of Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia. Returns for each sequence have been often teased, however maddeningly neither has develop into official, although many at Ubisoft wish to change that.

“I love Splinter Cell,” Ubisoft chief artistic officer Serge Hascoet says, “I love Prince of Persia. I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources. It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means.”

Hascoet speaks quite a bit about Ubisoft growth philosophy with Game Informer, together with how the corporate’s many groups decide on one mission or one other. For instance, “We moved from Prince of Persia to Assassin’s Creed because we thought the prototype was compelling enough to do something new and fresh.”

We haven’t heard a lot from Ubisoft on a new game for Prince of Persia, although sequence creator Jordan Mechner mentioned earlier this 12 months “We’re doing our best to make it happen!” But there’s been little indication it’s occurring any time quickly.

Prospects for the next Splinter Cell appear significantly better. At E3, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot mentioned “We really want it to come back.” That’s no affirmation by itself, however the firm has saved Sam Fisher within the highlight, bringing Michael Ironside back for a Ghost Recon Wildlands cameo.

With Beyond Good & Evil 2 lastly occurring – albeit in a a lot totally different kind than anybody anticipated – it appears the door by no means really closes on the previous at Ubisoft.
