Specialists are fighting to keep their jobs.
Ubisoft recently announced another round of layoffs. Employees at Ubisoft Barcelona, represented by the Video Game Workers union coordinating committee, plan to go on strike.
The strike follows management’s decision to cut 51 positions. Staff members intend to walk out every Tuesday and Thursday between June 30 and July 16, totaling six actions over three weeks.
The Ubisoft Barcelona team demands the following:
- Guaranteed job retention for all 51 specialists.
- A commitment to protect staff from future mass layoffs for at least five years.
- Implementation of previously agreed raises that the company suspended unilaterally.
- Restoration of remote work, specifically 60 percent of hours per month, to improve work-life balance.
- A review of the salary and benefits plan for all employees.
Layoffs continue to affect the broader gaming industry, including recent job cuts at Bungie.
