Tori Kelly’s musical prowess remains undeniable, and her devoted fanbase has plenty to look forward to as she prepares her next chapter.
On Tuesday, May 5, the singer-songwriter announced her sixth studio effort, titled God Must Really Love Me. Sharing the album’s striking cover art via Instagram, Kelly confirmed that the project is scheduled for release on June 12.
To build anticipation, Kelly revealed that two brand-new singles from the collection—”Control” and “Dive”—will arrive this Friday, May 8.
God Must Really Love Me serves as the successor to her 2024 self-titled LP, Tori. According to official statements, this project marks her most vulnerable and intimate work to date. The record is expected to delve into themes of identity, profound love, and the essential, often quiet task of safeguarding one’s peace against the backdrop of a chaotic world.
This announcement follows approximately six months after the birth of her first child with husband André Murillo. Kelly noted that becoming a mother sparked a sudden, intense surge of inspiration, fundamentally shifting her creative perspective.
“Before the baby arrived, I diligently worked on as many songs as possible, fearing that my creative drive might wane once I embraced motherhood,” Kelly explained. “However, the inspiration hit me all at once, and I instinctively knew exactly what I needed to express and how I wanted it to resonate.”
While Kelly penned the majority of the album’s tracks solo, she collaborated in the studio with esteemed producers and writers, including DIXSON, Nija Charles, Emily Warren, and Ammo. The record prominently features the production work of Tommy King and Dan Farber.
