Marvel appears to be setting the stage for a historic alliance between two of the most legendary figures in cinematic history.
Although the theatrical debut of Avengers: Secret Wars is still roughly two years away, the surrounding hype is already substantial. According to industry insiders, the core narrative of the massive crossover event may center on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.
This development was brought to light by prominent leaker MyTimeToShineHello, who suggested on X (formerly Twitter) that the conclusion of Avengers: Doomsday will effectively position Maguire and Jackman as the primary protagonists for the Secret Wars storyline.
Rumors of Marvel uniting these two veteran icons have been circulating for months. Secret Wars is widely expected to serve as the ultimate multiversal crescendo, weaving together characters from various eras and production studios. In this context, the return of Jackman and Maguire is a logical move, as both actors are inextricably linked to the “golden age” of superhero cinema that began in the early 2000s.
Earlier reports also indicated that Jackman’s Wolverine would share significant screen time in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Maguire’s Peter Parker and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. However, Marvel Studios has yet to provide official confirmation regarding their involvement in these upcoming projects.
Avengers: Secret Wars is currently scheduled for an international release in December 2027, while Avengers: Doomsday is slated to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
