‘The Witcher’ Star Liam Hemsworth to Lead Erotic Thriller From ‘Taxi Driver’ Writer

Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, known for his roles in The Hunger Games and his upcoming stint in The Witcher, has been cast as the lead in the feature film Non Compos Mentis, according to reports from Deadline.

The project is written and directed by Academy Award nominee Paul Schrader, the legendary scribe behind Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Joining Hemsworth in the ensemble are Caleb Landry Jones (Dogman), Sarah Pidgeon (The Wilds), and two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (Hannah and Her Sisters).

The plot delves into the lives of two affluent brothers in New York City: one a prestigious attorney, the other the heir to a corporate empire. Against the backdrop of their mother’s encroaching dementia, the lawyer enters into a relationship with a younger woman, setting off a volatile chain of obsession and betrayal as a ruthless struggle for control over the family business ensues.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin this spring. Schrader’s most recent directorial effort, Master Gardener, was released in 2022. Hemsworth recently stepped into the role of Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill for the fourth season of The Witcher, and is set to conclude the series in its fifth and final season.
