ESL’s subsequent Dota 2 main will happen within the UK. ESL One introduced immediately that Birmingham will host the primary ever Dota 2 Major to happen within the nation.

In an interview with SE7EN.WS, ESL UK’s managing director James Dean mentioned that whereas “the UK has been positioning itself in order to win a major event,” “we hadn’t expected something to come so quickly.” Dean says Birmingham, which is the UK’s second-largest metropolis, was chosen as a venue because of the ease and price of journey and accomodation, but in addition as a result of “I think we’d be hard pushed to justify why it should be in London, as [the capital] already gets a huge lion’s share of what does happen in the UK.”
ESL One will happen within the metropolis centre, at Arena Birmingham, between May 25-27, and twelve groups will compete for his or her share of 1,500 International qualifying factors and a $1 million prize pool. Six groups will obtain invites to the event, whereas an extra six can be chosen by on-line qualifiers.
Dean is assured that the event might mark the beginning of a higher UK involvement in worldwide esports – “if this is a success, then there’s no doubt that it will come back, that ESL One will come back, in the UK, and in Birmingham, for next year.”
