The mobile sensation Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is preparing to venture into the Paldea region. On February 26, the game will debut the “Paldean Wonders” expansion, introducing a fresh array of cards inspired by the Scarlet and Violet era. Among the most anticipated additions is the notorious Gholdengo, which makes its debut as a powerful new ex card.
As TCG Pocket moves through its second year, it continues the momentum established by the recent Gardevoir-centric “Fantastical Parade” set. The Paldean Wonders booster pack features the iconic starter trio—Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly—front and center. Notably, this update follows the recent trend of releasing a single, focused pack, suggesting a streamlined approach compared to the multi-set launches seen earlier in the game’s lifecycle.
A teaser trailer has already revealed several highlights from the upcoming set. Beyond the primary starters, players can look forward to collecting Smoliv, Klawf, Pawmi, and Paldean Wooper. The update also expands the tactical options for deck building, introducing Arven and Nemona as Support cards and Mesagoza as a new Stadium. For collectors chasing high-rarity pulls, the set includes a charming full-art Maushold and a formidable Meowscarada ex.
The most significant shake-up to the competitive meta, however, may come from Gholdengo ex. While its visual design remains polarizing among the community, its “Spending Rush” ability is a force to be reckoned with. With a sturdy 150 HP, this Pokémon features a one-energy attack that targets a random opponent’s monster, dealing 40 damage for every Steel Energy attached to Gholdengo ex. This scaling damage potential makes it a terrifying counter to high-HP “Mega” threats, likely forcing players to rethink how quickly they fill their benches with heavy hitters.
The Paldean Wonders expansion officially arrives in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket on February 26.
