Jennifer Kent, the visionary director behind The Babadook, is gearing up for her latest project: a chilling cyberpunk horror film. The lead role will be portrayed by Sophie Thatcher, acclaimed for her performances in the series Yellowjackets and the thriller Heretic.
Titled The Girl Who Was Plugged In, the story centers on a young woman who, in the aftermath of a suicide attempt, is granted a second chance at life through an artificially grown body. She soon becomes a pawn for a massive corporation, exploited as a digital influencer to engage with followers and promote their agenda.
The film is based on the novella by Alice B. Sheldon. Further details regarding the production remain under wraps.
