“Rocky Is Me” to be released in Russia earlier than planned
The biographical drama “I Am Rocky” is arriving in Russian cinemas a week earlier than anticipated, with its premiere moved up to November 19. Originally slated for November 26, the new release date means local audiences will get the chance to experience the film even before its wide release in the United States, which begins on November 20.
Directed by Peter Farrelly, the biopic chronicles Sylvester Stallone’s early struggles and the arduous journey of writing the “Rocky” screenplay. Despite skepticism from Hollywood executives, the aspiring actor refuses to sell his story unless he is guaranteed the lead role. In a high-stakes gamble, Stallone risks his fledgling career and his family’s financial stability to ensure he is the one to portray the iconic underdog on screen.
Anthony Ippolito stars as Stallone, leading a cast that includes AnnaSophia Robb, Matt Dillon, Toby Kebbell, P.J. Byrne, and Stephan James. The release serves as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the original “Rocky,” which first premiered in 1976.
“I Am Rocky” hits theaters on November 19.
