‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ Vol. 31 Claims Top Spot on Billboard Japan Book Hot 100

The 31st volume of Taiki Kawakami, Fuse, and Mitz Vah’s That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has secured the number one position on the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 for the week of February 19. This comprehensive ranking serves as a barometer for the Japanese literary market, synthesizing data from physical retail sales, digital downloads, library circulation, subscription metrics, and social media engagement.

Manga continues to exert its dominance over the domestic charts, sweeping the entire top five this week. The latest installment of the “TenSura” saga led the charge, performing exceptionally well in physical stores and across e-book platforms. Following closely at No. 2 is Yumi Tamura’s Don’t Call It Mystery (Vol. 16). This volume marks the beginning of the highly anticipated “Island Arc,” continuing the momentum of a series that saw a massive surge in popularity following its 2022 television adaptation.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man Vol. 23 remains a heavy hitter, maintaining its position in the top three after a strong debut. Outside of the manga sphere, Ryunosuke Matsushita’s sci-fi thriller Labyrinth of Hortensia and the Minotaur (Ichijigen no Sashiki) continues its impressive upward trajectory. Moving from No. 15 to No. 8, the novel’s ascent is attributed to sustained social media buzz and three consecutive weeks of growth in physical sales.
