Team Cherry Isn’t Planning Hollow Knight 3 in the Near Future, but Work on Major DLCs for Silksong Is Already in Full Swing
Ari Gibson says it would be wonderful to manage to create a few more games before retiring.
According to Team Cherry co‑founder Ari Gibson, the studio intends to develop titles beyond the Hollow Knight universe, so fans shouldn’t expect a third entry anytime soon.
Gibson mentioned that Team Cherry wants to experiment with different genres and themes. The studio already has concepts for new projects featuring vast worlds, boss encounters, and peculiar characters.
The developer identified time as the main challenge: modern game development often requires far too many years.
We have other games planned. The only thing that genuinely worries me about the time involved — and we’ve discussed this before — is mortality. If you spend seven, or even nine, years on a single project, death isn’t as distant as you might think. So it would be great to have the chance to make a few more games.
The interview also revealed that Team Cherry is preparing several substantial expansions for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The studio says it will share details about the new metroidvania content soon.
