Taylor Swift to Release Exclusive Record Store Day Vinyl for ‘The Last Showgirl’ Track

Taylor Swift continues her longstanding advocacy for independent music retailers, confirming her participation in Record Store Day 2026. On Monday, March 2, organizers for the annual celebration of local vinyl culture revealed a highly anticipated exclusive: a standalone single from the pop icon’s acclaimed Life of a Showgirl era.
The limited-edition 7-inch disc will feature “Elizabeth Taylor”—the evocative third track from Swift’s 2025 chart-dominating album. This special pressing is rendered in a “galactic purple-and-blue” swirl, intended to capture the song’s ethereal aesthetic. “Record Store Day just got… So Glamorous,” the official RSD Instagram account shared, debuting the sleek, black-and-white cover photography.
Formally titled the “Cry My Eyes Violet Glitter” vinyl, the name draws directly from the song’s poignant lyricism. Originally released on October 3, the parent album, The Life of a Showgirl, became a cultural phenomenon, commanding the top spot on the Billboard 200 for twelve consecutive weeks.
While the tracks “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite” both ascended to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Elizabeth Taylor” made a powerful impact of its own, debuting at No. 3. The ballad serves as a lyrical tribute to the Hollywood legend and violet-eyed icon known for her roles in Cleopatra and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Following its release, Taylor’s son, Christopher Wilding, offered a glowing endorsement of Swift’s creative vision.
“They are both the very embodiment of female empowerment,” Wilding remarked last October. “The way Swift has skillfully captured the shared experiences and parallel trajectories of their lives and careers is truly remarkable.”
The 14-time Grammy winner has a history of driving massive engagement for Record Store Day. Last year, her “Fortnight” single was a top-tier seller, and her 2022 release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions achieved historic milestones on the Billboard charts.
Record Store Day 2026 is scheduled to take place on April 18. Collectors can preview the “Elizabeth Taylor” vinyl design below.
