Take-2 could take away the name from the game of the year
Copyright protection is important and necessary, but, as often happens with something important and necessary, sometimes everything comes to the point of absurdity. T2 is filing trademark complaints that are similar to theirs and include the words: Take Two, Rockstar, 2K, GTA, Civilization, Mafia and others.
And some bewilderment is caused by the fact that words that have a huge range of applications, for example, “rock star”, “civilization”, “mafia”, are at risk of being banned. Even the situation with Rockstar Intel you can understand (both the name and the previous logo of the fan site can be misleading, and make it clear that this is the official source of R *), but is that? ..
All of this caught on and It Takes Two. Complaint was filed a year ago (October 26, 2020), but only now it has become a topic of discussion. Probably because the project claims to be the game of the year (it became one of the best in 2021, and in a week it can officially receive this status at the Game Awards). It is not yet known what the developers will do. Hazelight has several options: remove the hit from sale or change its name. It’s funny how the Swedes themselves five years ago claimed for the rights because of his other game, A Way Out (an interesting co-op that will suit the most inexperienced players, for example, your girls / wives).
Meanwhile on the forum we assume what else may arouse the interest of the copyright holder.
