On Tuesday, those who were expecting the show GTA 6, woke up in a great mood in anticipation of the premiere, but discovered that the trailer was leaked on the night of the 4th to the 5th, 15 hours before the appointed time. The developers had no choice but to admit the leak and publish a video.
The world was already hit by a fever called Grand Theft Auto 6. The situation is best described by a meme video that appeared after teaser. But it is still relevant. Especially if you replace the word players with leakers.
But, despite the fact that there was a leak, the marketing department should be pleased with the hubbub around the game. Yes, most likely, early uploading to YouTube was the reason for such an unfortunate incident, but it also helped to attract more attention. And it’s not for nothing that the developers abandoned their video player for the sake of video hosting – there they broke three world records (and how many are ahead…). This was stated Guinness Book of Records.
- The most viewed video game debut in 24 hours – 90.4 million views.
- The most likes for a game trailer in a day – 8.9 million.
- Most viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours.
But there was very little left to the absolute record for views per day – it is held by the Korean group BTS with their video Butter, which reached 108 million. At the moment, this milestone, of course, has already been passed by the “six”. But if it could be done a little faster… By the way, the first trailer GTA 5 on a wave of interest, it also surpassed the 100,000,000 mark. But it took him 12 years to do this, and the next part took less than 48 hours. There is no point in comparing it with other contemporary projects. For example, trailers for Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the latest Legend of Zelda generated less in total.
Such success caught the attention of the management of the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), whose CEO complained, saying, why doesn’t Rockstar Games post the trailer directly there. By some “amazing” coincidence, R*’s tweet with the YouTube link (see above) was deleted for some time. The “rock stars” responded to this clownery with dignity, still uploading the video, but almost a day after the release. Employees immediately began praising local coverage, to which ordinary users reasonably pointed out that views on Twitter do not reflect reality in the same way as on the most popular video hosting site in the world.
Ned Luke, who played Michael in Five, appreciated not only the trailer itself, but also the number of beautiful ladies in one second of the video. But there was a time when players were worried whether Lucia’s figure would be “cut.”
But don’t think that this is all that the debut show of GTA 6 is remembered for – there was a lot of things there, and we will definitely talk about it later.
